Celebrating The Jubilee In Yorkshire

Monday 30th April Day 1 We finally got away at 9.30am after lots of little things went wrong, I had forgotten to top up with water, the bins needed to be put out and we had forgotten to put the washing in the dryer then Charlottes cat got out and we spent half an hour on our hands and knees under van trying to coax it out, eventually all was good and we made our way to our first stop, topping up with fuel at the Asda in Olsbury as its 10p a litre cheaper than at home, all filled up and £121.00 lighter, yes, £121.00  we got on our way, at least that should last the week. We made good progress up the motorways until M18 where road works ground the traffic to a halt, over half an hour later we had only moved a mile, we eventually got going and after stopping for a spot of lunch we arrived at Fraisethorpe at 3.00pm to bright skies but a little cool. Evening sunshine - Fraisthorpe Beach Geoff and Jayne had already arrived so we parked up with them, it wasn'...

Club Meets - Not For Me or so I Thought. MMCS Meet Please let me explain, We are Nigel & Adele and have been members of the Camping & Caravanning Club since buying our Benimar Benivan 120 three years go, like most, we have not been able to make the best use of our campervan over the last three years so this year we had plans. We have already had trips away to Wiltshire, Shropshire and South Wales using certified sites (CS) or temporary holiday sites (THS) for this, our latest trip we wanted to explore the Derbyshire Peak District, Adele checked the Clubs ‘out and about’ app and found a Midland Motor Caravan section meet at the show ground in Bakewell a few hundred yards from the town, sounds great but a meet! Arn’t they a bit ‘clicky’ ?, a bit specialised ?, a bit regimented ? Adele phoned to check availability, there was space, so we booked, have we done the right thing? We arrived around 6.30pm and were met by our stewards who had only just  taken over the me...

Peaky Finders - A Sneaky Road Trip

Tuesday 19th April Day 1 I know its only been a few day since we got back from the Gower but we had alway intended to make the most of the Easter holidays, so while I had to do my three day shift at McD, Adele sorted the van and found a new area to have a look at The Peak District, now we do realise that we can't see a lot in a few day but this would be a little taster. We left home by 3 o'clock and after filling the gas-it tank we were on the road, M5, M6 and A38, it took longer than expected due to the heavy traffic on M6 but we should have expected that. We arrived at Bakewell just before six. Adele had found us at real little find, a C&CC club meet, something we have not done before, run by the Midland Motorhomers Section, we were met by two stewards who were very welcoming, they apologised for not not being very professional but the original stewards had gone down with Covid and had to take over at short notice. We were shown wh...
