Meet Our New Adventurer

Wilmcote, Warwickshire.

Friday 24th May

Day 1

This weekend has been planned for a few weeks, as soon as Archie had had his final vaccinations, Adele had finished work we were off, instead of taking the motorway down towards Stratford upon Avon we took the A roads from Kidderminster via Redditch and Alcester.

We arrived at the East Worcestershire DA meet at Wilmcote just after 6pm, we set up and had a quick tea of homemade lasagna with mixed green salad.

The main reason for the trip was to start socialising Archie our 13 week old Patterjack pup, it was his first trip away from home and his first in the campervan, neither of us really knew what to expect.

After tea we went for a short walk around the camp field, we had not been out long when it started to rain so returned quickly to the van, Archie is not keen on rain.

After drying him off we set up his new travel create, he has some of his toys from home so looked as if he was content in his new surroundings.

It was only 9.30ish and as it was raining heavy we decided to have an early night as we didn't know how Archie would sleep.

Saturday 25th May

Day 2

We were woke at 4.15am by whimpering and whining, Archie was not happy, but when we got him out of his create he went straight to the door, dressed just in my underpants and a t-shirt I took Archie outside, he needed a wee, within minutes he was back in the van and back in his create with no trouble at all.

We all slept in 'till gone 8.30am, I once again took Archie out for a short walk whilst Adele put the van in day mode and got washed and changed.

We returned after a decent walk, Archie was fed then we had our breakfast too.

The rest of the morning was taken up with some on lead training for Archie before taking a walk into Wilmcote, this sleepy Warwickshire village was great for young Archie to get used to different environments, we walked out to Mary Arden Farm, once the home to Shakespeares mother, we called into the Mary Arden Inn for a spot of lunch and a couple of pints but found out they didn't sell food, we say in the beer garden enjoying a pint as Archie fell asleep after his long walk.

We returned to the site and prepared tea, as the weather had improved so much we had a BBQ, lamb koftas followed by burgers and chips, again Archie behaved himself as we ate

After tea we went for another short walk around the field so Archie could have a wee, the evening was lovely, Archie went straight into his create as we sat just outside the van enjoying a glass of wine as the sun went down.

Were we in for another early morning wake up call from our newest member of benivanadventures?

Sunday 26th May
Day 3

We were woken but not until 7.30am again Archie needed a wee, we had our usual, new, routine, I took Archie for a walk, Adele got the van straight.
Archie was fed, we sat with coffee outside the van, our full English was soon cooked, we sat outside enjoying the sunshine.
Today we planned another walk but this time along the canal tow path that runs through Wilmcote down to Stratford upon Avon, Archie was very well behaved although did get a little excited when he came across some ducks.
We returned to site and met some other lovely campers who made such a fuss of Archie, this DA group is small but its members are really friendly.

As the meet was only 40 minutes from home we asked if we could hang around a bit before leaving, the stewards were more than happy to allow us to stay as long as we wanted too.
The rest of the afternoon was spent playing with Archie and trying some sit and stay training which in fairness didn't go all our way, Archie just love the space to have a run around.

We left Wilmcote around 5pm for the short drive home, we have had a lovely relaxing weekend and Archie has been a real star, settling into the van like a true benivanadventurer.
