Club Meets - Not For Me or so I Thought. MMCS Meet Please let me explain, We are Nigel & Adele and have been members of the Camping & Caravanning Club since buying our Benimar Benivan 120 three years go, like most, we have not been able to make the best use of our campervan over the last three years so this year we had plans. We have already had trips away to Wiltshire, Shropshire and South Wales using certified sites (CS) or temporary holiday sites (THS) for this, our latest trip we wanted to explore the Derbyshire Peak District, Adele checked the Clubs ‘out and about’ app and found a Midland Motor Caravan section meet at the show ground in Bakewell a few hundred yards from the town, sounds great but a meet! Arn’t they a bit ‘clicky’ ?, a bit specialised ?, a bit regimented ? Adele phoned to check availability, there was space, so we booked, have we done the right thing? We arrived around 6.30pm and were met by our stewards who had only just  taken over the me...

Peaky Finders - A Sneaky Road Trip

Tuesday 19th April Day 1 I know its only been a few day since we got back from the Gower but we had alway intended to make the most of the Easter holidays, so while I had to do my three day shift at McD, Adele sorted the van and found a new area to have a look at The Peak District, now we do realise that we can't see a lot in a few day but this would be a little taster. We left home by 3 o'clock and after filling the gas-it tank we were on the road, M5, M6 and A38, it took longer than expected due to the heavy traffic on M6 but we should have expected that. We arrived at Bakewell just before six. Adele had found us at real little find, a C&CC club meet, something we have not done before, run by the Midland Motorhomers Section, we were met by two stewards who were very welcoming, they apologised for not not being very professional but the original stewards had gone down with Covid and had to take over at short notice. We were shown wh...

Croeso y Cymru - The Gower

Tuesday 12th April Day 1 Happy Easter I finished work dot on 2 o'clock and were on the road by 3pm, last nights planning meeting went well, we found a THS ( temporay holiday site) listed on the C&CC Out and about near Port Eynon in Wales somewhere we haven't been before. We took the fastest route listed on the sat-nav, M5, M50 and M4 to Swansea and made good progress until we hit the outskirts on Swansea where we hit road works. We eventually found the site having travelled down some very narrow roads, thanks again to our sat-nav, one of the roads was so narrow the vans mirrors almost touched the sides, what was the worst that could happen? meeting a car coming the other way! but not a car a bloody bus!! fortunately the bus driver must do this often and got past with centimetres to spare. The site was over looking Port Eynon bay, we were met by the stewards from West Wales DA who gave us a very friendly welcome, booked in we topped up with water before...
