Cote d'Opale - An Autumn Escape

Image
Cote d’Opale Friday 24th October Day 1 The van was packed and ready to go as Adele finished work, we just needed a spot of breakfast, bacon butties and a mug of tea. We left home just after 11am, we needed to fill up with diesel and LPG before hitting the motorway so stopped at the BP station in Bromsgrove then onto the M40 for the drive south, we pulled over into the M25 services just after 1.30pm for a spot of lunch and as tradition Staes it was salmon sandwiches, crisps and a glass of pop. After much we continued our journey, however, our progress soon came to a halt, there had been a multi-car accident at the junction with the M23 and the motorway had come to a stand still. It took almost two hours before we were on the move, arriving at the Canterbury Aire just after 6.30pm, seven and a half hours since we left home, we were both feeling exhausted, I took Archie for a well deserved walk whilst Adele prepared supper, fortunately it was a pasta and sauce dish so quite ...

A Cotswold Catastrophe

This weekend had been planned for months, we were meeting one of Adeles oldest school friends Sarah and her husband Ian at Broadway in the Cotswolds. Saturday 27th September Day 1 We left home last morning for the hour or so drive down to the Cotswolds, we were meeting Sarah & Ian at Broadway Tower, somewhere we have seen from a distance many times but never visited. Wednesday 27th August Day 1 Blue Anchor Bay Finished work and after a quick shower we were on the road, Adele had the found a THS in Somerset at Blue Anchor Bay just up the road from Minehead, the journey down was fine, just the normal M5 traffic, we arrived at Home Farm rally field and were met by the stewards of the South West Region, we booked in for three nights although we were hoping to stay until Sunday but the THS finishes strangely on Saturday, not to worry we will fine somewhere to stay for one more night. We parked up, had a cup of tea before taking Archie for a walk returning for nibbles and a drink before supper. We had a really relaxing evening reading and listening to music before bed. Thursday 28th August Day 2 Woke at 6am, after a very peaceful night, took Archie for a walk on the beach and almost got cut off by the tide, the end of the beach had a rock sea defence that we couldn't climb up so back from where we came, just making it. Back to the van for breakfast, ...
